1985 Spartan Single axle leaf spring question

I don't know the year of my spartan classic trailer but the boat is a 1985 with a 16' Starcraft and I can only guess that the trailer may have come with the boat but, one never knows. Anyway as you can see from the photos the leaf springs on my trailer have one u-bolt. The pictures I see on the internet show 2 u-bolts with a larger plate. Is mine jury rigged or is that the right way? I've been looking for the clips online and many pictures of leaf springs show only one clamp. Do I need one or two clips and where can I get them, maybe auto store?

Just looked at my Spartan and the springs are attached the same way. Mines a R16 with a gvw of 1660#. A trailer shop may be able to supply you with the clips.

I appreciate the comeback. I'll check some local trailer places and see about the clamps.

Since there is no real torque force on the axle you only need the one like you have. You might get some 1/2" mild steel and make some new retainers for the springs to replace the hose clamps. The top clamp piece is tempered steel so if you're going to replace it get one from a trailer supply center. I think www.pacifictrailers.com has those but check here on iBoats first.
