hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone can help with my stringer question. I was looking at my bilge pump one day and noticed there were no stingers down the center of the boat to support the engines. So reached under the floor and aft of the bilge pump, and to my suprise I only felt plywood on the underside of the deck where the inside motor mounts were fastened. No sign of stringer at all. Is this right? If not could you please explain before I start cutting out the floor for no reason.

Thanks gary.

Re: 1985 wellcraft novaII stringer question

We are fortunate to have a few Nova owners here..... SuperNova is one and hopefully they will have more knowledge of what is below your deck.

Read the restoration section and you will see many boats in various stages of major surgery. There is rarely a stringer down the keel but often off to the sides. This allows for drainage in the bilge.
