1985 Yamaha 115hp starts chugging above idle

i took my boat out a few weeks ago and it was running fine until i let my brother in law drive and he hit a big wave and we came down pretty hard. when we landed, the motor started chugging at anything higher than idle speed. its almost like something was knocked loose. any advice would be appreciated since i dont have the money to have a shop look at it.

make your brother in law pay for it it is all his fault any way....just kidding, sounds like a possible fuel clog at tank pick up, or filters.
