The 1985 Yamaha 70hp out broad that I made a post about earlier has a broken block. My question is what do I do now. A replacement outboard is so expensive so is it fesable to rebuild this engine? Any help is greatly appreciated

Check prices on a running used or rebuilt powerhead.....but you'll have the price of the head plus the labor to do the switch.....

I was wondering if it would be cost effective to find another bare block and just rebuild this engine?

very old motor, hard to find parts maybe and what do you end up with. not much for resale.

I take it you will not be doing the work yourself, so talk to someone that will do it to see what they say it will cost you

There is a hole in the block behind the oil tank right behind the top cylinder. I found a replacement bare block for $350

if there is a hole, something had to make that hole
most of the time it is loose pieces from moving parts inside motor
So may need more than just a block
And then someones time to take apart and put together
Time is money if paying someone else to do the work
