Re: 1986 115 TrimTilt problem HELP

if the pump motor runs and the tilt does nothing it can be several things, one is the tilt bar is so corroded it cant move, try pushing on the searcase while trimming down.
its also possible its out of fluid.
its possible that the motor coupler failed.

Re: 1986 115 TrimTilt problem HELP

I can relate hubmachine, I posted this once and got no reply yet:
I have what I think is a 1984 Yamaha 115
(#115AETO)outboard, and was wondering if anyone
could shed some light on a power trim problem I
have been unable to diagnose. The Motor tilts up and down fine, but when it comes to rest on the
Trim rams, they will not retract. The Hydrualic motor is running (sounds like under a load).
I can turn the manual/power trim screw to manual
and the rams comress right down like they are supposed to. I can then turn the screw to power
and the trim rams will work fine to lift only.
I have done this up/down deal with the manual screw quite a few times as I have been told this is how to purge air from the system, and I have
checked the fluid level. It's clean and full.
Any advice offered would be greatly appreciated.
