1986 140 hp just stopped

we ran for about 1 1/2 hours today stopped to take break moter just stopped at idel and the would not crank had power. where do i start to look for problem? any help would be great..

"would not crank".....do you mean that it would not turn over, or would turn over but not start?

were you still in Gear when you tried to start it?

no it would not turn over had full power at batters and checked fuse near statter motor it was ok

Are you sure the control handle is in neutral? Try to wiggle it once. Also check your battery cable connections on both the battery and the mtr.

got to ask...are you saying the motor stopped itself at idle or do you mean you turned off the motor.....does the starter motor or solinoid make any noise when you turn the key?

wow thanks to everone for there replys. have found the problem. loose wire at kill switch thanks again for the help
