1986 150XP - Where is/are the blocking diode(s)??

I read some info that they are in the packs, and some info that there is only one, and it's in the harness?

Where did you get the idea your engine has blocking diode? That was used on the hydro-electric gearcases. I don't think it has been used since 1973. They were located in the control box

A diode is not your stator issue. Most likely culprit on those 35 amp systems is old batter cables and corrosion in connectors and age.

Check your cooling system and go to cdielectronics.com to test your stator.
