I have a 1986 200hp looper. The one way valves on the intake are not working and these parts are expensive. I was wanting to no if you really need the recirculation system or could you just remove the valves and plug all holes on intake and on cylinder heads? As I think this is just stuff for emissions you don't really need.

They scavenge the oil left over after running though the bearings and sitting in parts of the motor so they are really are needed and they are really expensive too. Perhaps you can get some generic one way valves from a engineering shop and splice them inline

Motors have had recirt systems since the 50's and used to dump the excess oils back in the lake. With the newer motors they run this excess back through the motor and burn it up. It is also part of the carb calibration But it's up to you to do what you want.
