I started rebuilding my carbs and noticed my floats are in pretty rough shape. I've ordered new ones but I was hoping to find some info on how to adjust the new ones. Can anyone post info on setting these up or recommend a manual?

Can't say for certain, but most every carb I ever rebuild, and I rebuild a ton of them, the floats were always adjusted to the level of the fuel bowl plate. In other words when you take the carb upside down, the float was level with the carb top section. And it is a great idea to replace those old floats. I mean it is a 1986 carb after all. JMHO

Thanks for the info. Also, do you know if it will be necessary to reset the max advance after switching out the trigger?

I thought we were talking about carbs. If you made an electronic swap out for your triggering circuits, then I wouldn't worry about resetting your timing, but if you want to check it........fine. The manual has 2 settings for it, one of which is when cranking with the starter, plugs out, remote control throttle at max and the other is when running at WOT under load as I recall my manual for the second test. I forget which but would expectthe 20 to be the while cranking measurement. One was 20 BTDC and the other 22BTDC. Idle is set by the knurled nob on the throttle shaft which tweaks the timing to get your idle winch was 0-4 ATDC (after TDC)
