1986 Bayliner Capri 1400 (14') Force 50 Hp, RENOVATION/PARTIAL REBUILD & UPHOLSTERY
Im starting this thread just because I couldnt find many boats like this being rebuilt.
Feel free to post any comments, questions, suggestions etc.
History:
Boat was bought on inet sight unseen for
$350. Boat motor & trailer.
P.O stated it ran 1 1/2 Yrs ago but when he put it water it wasnt pumping water, n he never left the dock with it.
He had recently got it also.
he said all I needed was a $20 sheet of carpet that was missing... ya right haha
in beginning my budget was only to put $100-200 in this thing. As I only care to keep it for a year or two, then sell it for what I have in it, which still isnt gonna be a ton of money. But like all boats, it turned into way more.
I have checked stringers for rot, repaired weak area in floor (not rotten), gutted Entire interior, re-made all side panels, new marine vinyl, all new mounting hardware.
Soon to come, new outdoor carpet, 3 new folding seats, red and grey.
all new interior is red with blue stripes.
I've done this all myself, I'm 23, with limited restore experience. I have years of engine experience with all types of motors.
Its been "fun" but im looking forward to it being water ready, (lets face it, they are never "done")...
The 86' model Force 50 is very clean, great compression, just installed new impeller, havent started it yet as im more worried about the hull then the engine.
I will be posting pics in sequence (best I can) from beginning to current.(never ends ha)
I currently have about $750 into it and intend to spend about $ 200 more just to get it water ready and looking pretty darn good (im hoping lol)
interior was grey with a little blue & red mixed in.
It had light blue carpet that was super cheap and p.I.t.a to get out haha.
im switching it to look different then every other bayliner you see, grey, blue, etc...
Im going with bright red vinyl for main color with medium blue stripes, and dark blue carpet.
Again, please post any thoughts, I appreciate the input especially since I sadly dont have any real life boat lover friends lol
enjoy!
