Hi guys newbie here, have an easy question. I stripped out the teeth on my timing belt Sunday, while going full throttle 15 miles from my marina, that sucked, and want to know what parts I should get besides the belt? I see that I have to dismantle the fresh water cooling system so there are probably going to be gaskets and sealers involved. Also are there any pointers or unexpected items I should be on the look out before diving in? I'm a great mechanic, it's my job, just not on boats, I have Volvo and Clymer manuals to reference just no parts manual.

I would get a timing belt kit complete with tensioner.

Stick with the Volvo manual. The Clymer manual is good to keep on-board just in-case you get stranded somewhere, and need paper to kindle a fire on shore. ;)

Thanks for the info, yeah thats where the Clymers stays! I went through all the parts with wwwdotmarinepartsexpressdotcom and they should've got me all the seals I needed for the job. I'll start tearing her apart this weekend, should have the parts latest on Monday.

I just broke mine also on my 84 baylinner .
Shopped around for a belt ,glad I did ! Everyone wanted $50. paid $18. for a dayco
Then shopped for a tensioner bearing ,Everone wanted $150. found one in BC for $40 . shipped.
Old bearing not to bad, just going to change it .
Butting it together this week end.looks straight forward. Hardest part was getting the tensioner off .
It is just bushed on to the block just have to take center bearing nut off and wiggle everthing back after you but the drill bit below the spring hole in the shaft.
Good luck.
