Make the sides of the bases out 2 layers of ply....

Cut the slot in one then glue it to the other piece ...

I think thats how they were originally..

I concur with contractorguy. I have a 87' Bayliner and the slots are cut into one piece of plywood then theres another piece glued to it. If you want I can take pics of the slides I have them seperated from the bases and am keeping them as templates. Let me know.

the pipe at the end of the board is 3/4 alum. the 4 holes are the seat mount and as you were told the slots are 2 pieces of 3/4 ply 1 routed and then sandwiched to the base well that's how my 84 was done.
Good luck I feel your pain

The bases are made out of 1/2" ply then a 3/4" ply is routed and attatched. I have a cuddy so won't be any help with the console.

I'm also putting back together an 86 Capri... I'm toying with this idea for the passenger side seat box. NOT REPLACING THE ORIGINAL BAYLINER STYLE SEAT, but making the seat box into a storage/cooler and just putting a bench seat on it that is hinged.

I got plenty of seating in everywhere else and people going out with me can sit on the bench. How cool would it be to open the seat and have it full of ice cold refreshments. No toting a cooler around. Just fill with ice and soda pop.

Not sure what to line it with, but I can glass it, paint it and put a drain hole no problem.

I did quite a bit of resto on my 1986 Capri 1600...I shaved off the back 1/2 of the seat.
