There is a clamp holding to the inner housing and there is a spring inside it that holds it against the outer housing. You might get lucky and be able to reach down from the top and replace it, otherwise the outer housing has to come off. It's just a shell where the front half is bolted to the back half and the pair is bolted up to the pan. You just have to unbolt the back half.

Re: 1986 force 125 exhaus bellows

You know how we have been writing about that exhaust relief bellows? Well, I took out my Chrysler 140 for a shake down cruise today. Started immediately and ran real well. after a while I slowed down to look at some turtles sunning themselves. Engine stalled and would re-start in fast idle position but would stall every time I put it back into neutral. I took the cover off to see what was the problem. Tried to start is and it ran real well and idled perfectly.

I saw exhaust rising up around the engine. Ah Ha! When I rebuilt the engine I probably did not get the bellows in correctly. Fished down there for about five minutes with a stick and got the bellows correctly positioned in the hole. Ta Da! No more problems. Amazing how life imitates iboats forums.

So, before you remove the bellows, see if it is correctly positioned. If it is in the hole on the rear shroud correctly, you should not be able to see the tapered portion.
