1986 Force 85hp - looking for engine cover gasket/seal

The engine cover gasket/seal/packing on my '86 Force 85 needs to be replaced. I've looked all across The Net and have come up blank. The OEM part is no longer made and is not available anywhere.

It looks like I'll need to fab something up on my own. Anyone else run into this problem?
