I would like to put a removable fishing seat (like you see on Bass boats) in the forward floor of my Candia deck boat. Before I drill, I would like to know whats under the floor. This installation would be in the center of the the boat side to side and just forward of the side console. I use this boat for Lake fishing here in Florida and i need a place to operate my trolling motor (Bow mounted) from. I want it removable so that I can free up the deck space, which would require the installation of a platform that needs approximately 41/2" of depth to mount the seat pin in. Anyone out there have knowledge of whats underneath? Anyone have any othe ideas?

You might drill like an 1/8" hole and stick a coat hanger wire down there and see what you got for room. I'm guessing maybe foam but don't know for sure. You could run a level under the boat and on top, then measure from the top level line line down to the floor and see whats left from there to the bottom level line and calculate the distance you have left. Allow 1/2" or so for hull thickness. You could build a 4 1/2" high box and attach it to the floor and mount your seat base on that. I worked at four winns but hard to remember whats what cause they had so many different models.

I thought about the 1/8 drill, but I never thought about the level lines. I'll try that. I've thought about building a box, but that allows something else to "trip over" on the floor of the boat. I have left the "U_shaped" front seats so I have passenger capability, but all other seats are removed. I use a stainless deck chair for my helm seat and I've thought of making a platform to sit it higher when I use the trolling motor. Still open to all ideas. thanks
