I have a 1986 four winns liberator 241 that i inherited when my younger brother passed away last fall. the issue i have with it is that someone has dumped rice in the fuel tank and i know this because last summer my brother said he seen some rice on the ground by the filler cap and this afternoon i took the elbow off and it was full of rice. any ideas how to get it out? the tank is bone dry. i dont know if i pull the floor up to get to the tank if there is a bigger cap that i can remove or not??? the tank is a 98 gallon tank. am i gonna have to cut a hole in the tank and seal and cap it or does anyone have any ideas how to completely clean it out???

I am not familiar with this boat but I have to assume it has a tank mounted sending unit. That would be removable which would give you the opportunity to clean it. Also the fuel fill hose may be removeable I'm guessing. If it's bone dry and no fumes I would think a shop vac but I'd rather let some people on this forum better versed than I make a recommendation on that. If it's not all evacuated, it will play hell on your fuel system pumps, filters, etc. If you inherited it, might be worth having the marina do it for you. My condolences on the passing of your brother and condolences to all the family.

what a pita

put an in line filter between the tank and the fuel pump.....you are good to run the boat.

this winter.....drain all the gas. remove sender.....stick a vaccume in there as best you can......in the filler......then stick an air nozzle down there try to blow the rice off the bottom of the tank.....fill tank with water.....drain several times.....swish the water around as much as you cam by sticking a stick in one of the holes.

just do the best you can....but with the in line filter.... you will be good to go boating. (unless there is a reaction with the starch in the rice in the combustion chamber....but who knows about that???? )

your other option is to pull the deck up.....remove tank.....flush the tank or replace.....and then re deck and re carpet.

a deck and carpet is worth around 2k pro style.
