Hello all! Sorry to be long winded. I picked up an ‘86 champion with what I thought was an ‘86 150 XR2 on it. Well, it’s stickered a 150, serial says 175, and has (from what I’ve been told) carbs and horizontal reeds from a 200 (WH-22). Someone had modified the original choke plate to fit those carbs and ran it without the plastic cover. I would like to get it running right and put together right. Can I just track down an air box and cowl from a 200 and everything fit? Or is there more involved? Looks like a may need a different rigging bracket also? Any advice?

tha "basic two cowls are tha same with exception of front opening and a single "plastic latch". there are differences in face plate latches both on face plate and female latches on bottom bracket.. parts will be kinda hard ta find maybe?.. might be easier ta jus bite tha bullet and use a later model 3 piece bucket style cowl?.. ya might get lucky and find a "complete" 200 clam shell when ya start beatin' tha bushes but be careful buyin' jus parts.. lotsa folks out there that think they have one thing but its actually something else........... jmo.

I’m assuming the 200 clam shell has a bigger opening in the front to make room for an air box. My cowl barley closes over the choke plate without the air box. What’s all involved with converting to the bucket style?

a coupla brackets and a few screws.. you can find 'em on any parts list for '89/'90 above V6 and get an idea.. might be a little easier ta find all tha parts ta do it.. i would beat tha bushes for tha earlier 200 stuff first though.. you jus never know whats gonna show up.. check ebay.
