Hi all,

Just after your opinion on the mid 80's 4 Cylinder 75hp Mercs. I have an opportunity to buy one to go with my De Havilland 4.7m runabout and looks like a really good fit. Comps read 145-150 on all, tilt/trim and remote oil injection (which I will toss and premix). Is there anything with this particular motor the I need to be weary about?

Thanks in advance,
Fady

Those are an excellent / simple motor.------Replace the impeller should you start using it.

Thanks mate, the guy also has an 89 60hp merc, 3 cylinder with about 120/130 on all and tilt/trim, which would be better? The boat will be primarily used for bay fishing and, every now and then, drag a few kids around in a biscuit. It's about 50kg lighter.
Thanks.

The list of people who complained about having too much power is pretty short. When all else is equal, go for the bigger motor.
