1986 Johnson 150 GT looses power

gets boat up on plane and runs good for about<br /> a hour then it looses power and sometimes surges<br /> like its going to get up and go but it dosnt?

Could be almost anything. 3 of them pop right into my mind. 1)fuel delivery problem, does you bulb collapse when the problem happens? Gas tank vented properly? Fuel lines in good condition with no leaks? 2)all coils in good shape and coil grounds clean? 3)corrosion between the crankshaft and the flywheel.

Trigger or stator could be your prob.Thin wires inside tend to break down after running for a while due to the fact they heat up.Causing loss of fire in 1 to 2 of the cyl. :cool:

Thanks guys i may have found the culprit.<br /> some of my wireing has been cooking on the<br /> block. I have pulled everything away from block<br /> and tied back.<br /> Thanks so much for your<br /> suggestions.<br /> Rick
