1986 Johnson 60HP outboard - impellar

I don't have the book and need to replace the impellar. Can any of you good souls out there tell me how?<br /><br />Much Thanks,<br /><br />Liam

Hey Liam....<br /><br />Changing out the pump impeller requires dropping the lower unit. You really should have a manual for this. OEM manual prefered.<br /><br />The shift shaft screw will need removed. This is located below and in back of the lower carb. Shift the control into reverse so you can see it.<br /><br />There are six bolts holding the lower unit in place. Two on each side, one in front of the trim tab and one under the trim tab.<br /><br />With the above bolts removed, the lower unit should drop off. The impeller housing sets right on top of the lower unit. Remove the four bolts holding the housing to the lower unit and remove. The impeller should be right there. Remember to always turn the drive shaft clockwise to install the impeller.<br /><br />Good Luck.
