There was not a ski pylon in the boat. That rusted cross member looks to be something someone replaced. Does not looks factory. Some rotted wood just like expected.

I recomend replacing the steel pylon support one of two ways. Either fiberglass a new one into the hull with fiberglass and wood or have one made from stainless. How are the stringers. If they are solid and the deck is without soft spots this should be a easy interior restoration. Just a lot of plywood fiting for upholstry panels. Just make sure to use stainless steel staples regular staples wont last more than a year. try to keep old upholstry for patterns. If you are you planing to make your own upholstry or sending it to a shop it is easier to pattern from old vynil than have to create new patterns.

Hey Pocket, Can't wait to see this one unfold... I love ski boats. I think I saw your other thread on this with the pics of when you first bought it (I am watching a ton of threads, so forgive me if that is not correct). You may want to consider asking the mods to combine your threads, just so all pics and progress will be in one place. I know there were only a couple of pics/posts on the first thread, but its nice to have the "soups to nuts" diary all in one place.

Good luck... and thanks for sharing with us.

Did a little ripping up today. Not what I was hoping for but it is what I expected.

Looks like someone put a new deck over the bad stringers then fiberglassed over the new deck.
Feeling very overhelmed at this time.

If you like the lines of this boat, and you feel the motor is sound, then I recommend you, "Bite the Bullet", pull the motor, and pull the deck, stringers and transom. Build her back right and she'll last 30 yrs. Cost $2-3K. Where ya gunna buy a NEW Boat for that???
