1986 Mercruiser 140 Alternator Brackets

Both the upper and lower alternator brackets on my "1986" 140 mercruiser broke in two this weekend. It's a Mando 55 amp alternator and the engine serial number is A439926. Does anyone know where to find the part numbers and or parts. This whole mounting set up appears poorly designed to me, are there any aftermarket parts that support both ends of the lower mounting boss on the alternator?

Well,.......<br /><br />If I did it right,..... You'll find the parts listed in This web page ............<br /><br />My Guess is,...<br />1 of the brackets was Loose,+ the other couldn't hold the load,+ Broke,..... <br />That broke the 1 that was Loose in the 1st Place............<br /><br />Those brackets have been doing a Fine Job for nearly 20 Years,................<br />I'd say the Original Design is working just Fine...........

Thanks much for the link. My lower alternator bracket does not have the rear tab as the one in the parts illustration you sent. Therefore all of the weight was hanging on a single tab causing it to crack and fail. Thus my poor design comment. They must have changed it subsequently as I'm the original owner of this boat and have never altered it. Thanks again.
