This motor was on the boat I just snagged. Sweet looking motor with about 200 hrs. Any more and I would be surprised. It was used summers only by an elderly gentleman in Michigan. Towed down here this winter after he passed away and sold by his BIL.
We started the motor and it ran fine. Towed it home and the next day would not start. Fuel squeeze bulb was hard as a rock. Pulled plugs, soaking wet. Turned motor over with plugs out and shot out about 1 ounce of gas each cyl. When I pulled the fuel line off the tank inside of the boat gas rushed out (won't do that again) untill I was able to crack the cap. I had left the tank connected and pressure built up and made it past the needles and into the pistons. I have determined I won't be leaving the tank connected any more. It's been a loooong time since I had a boat with a 6 gallon tank. Do they usually do this and should I keep the cap cracked some or just be careful and not leave anything connected untill ready to run??
Thanks for your help...,,,,here's the boat and motor..
