Ok guys , I have broken off 1 plug in each of my 3 carb bowls. they are brass and I assume I could drill and tap, but I do not want to damage the threads because these bowls are NLA. Before I got drilling, I figured I would check with the pros and make sure I am going in the right direction.

I drilled them out by starting with a 1/8 bit and worked up. I used left hand bits up to 1/4. That was the largest LH bit I had. Then I used a 5/16 bit, then I used a tap and cleaned the brass out of the threads...it worked real well...one of the plugs actually came out while drilling with the left hand bits. so all is well. Thanks for the help.
