1987. 1988 125 Force

I just purchased a 87 Bayliner w/ 125 HP Force I set up a large water trough to test run the motor. Runs good but a small amount of oil is on the water after after it is done running. Could that be caused by excess oil in the gas. Or where else could it come from. I did not run it in gear, just at idle. It had a new impler put in the water pump last year and it pumps water real good.

You say a small amount, it is probably from the carbs, I wouldn't be too concerned unless you see more then probably check your fuel pump diaphragm and your float levels of your carbies.

With 2-cycle motor there will always be a small amount of oil in the exhaust or in the water. Just make sure your motor is not running too rich on the carb by making sure the air-fuel mixture idle screws are set at 1~ 1 1/8 turn out from lightly seated and the fuel-oil mix is 50 to 1 ratio.

I have a 125 force and am only getting 2500 rpm's is that normal

You revived an old thread. You will be better off and get more responses by starting your own new one. A quick answer to your question, NO that is not normal. The rated RPM range for most of these Force motors is 4500~5500 RPM at WOT (Wide Open Throttle) speed.
