It appears my 1987 200 hp Evinrude may need the lower engine mounts replaced. The mount covers are corroded through (#10 on attached diagram) and the black rubber is protruding. The mounts are available from BPR (P/N 0391710 and #18 on the attached diagram) but very expensive; $146 ea. That sounds high, but it is what is listed on the BRP on-line parts site. Does anyone know of after market mounts or an alternative source other than BRP?

Also I have never replaced mounts before and would greatly appreciate any advice. The motor has been used in salt water and I'm sure all bolts involves are going to be very difficult to remove. How would I begin to remove the bolts? If I start torqueing on them I suspect they will shear off. Should I apply heat? If so where and what is the proceedure do I follow?

Once I remove the bolts does the motor need to be supported while the mounts are changed?

Thanks in advance.

Look at the top of the page in the "Top Secret File" sticky, there is a list of salvage yards there, maybe one of them can help you out with used parts.
I would try the bolts, if they are seized, you may need to use some heat on them to get them loose. Those mounts are not supporting the weight of the engine up and down, more in and out. If you remove one at a time you shouldn't have any problems.
