Above motor was apart last year after swallowing a washer, a hone and 2 used pistons did the trick.
Had trouble with ignition now and then last year. On first trip this year, it ran fine for 15 minutes, then it started having a light clicking sound, at 3/4 to full throttle. Quickly getting worse. I backed some off on the throttle and it sounded normal. As soon as throttle was more that 1/2 - 3/4 sound was back. Headed back to the dock, and when I reached no wake zone, it iddled very rough. Took motor home and found no spark on upper cylinder. Would this produce a light clicking sound at high rpm, almost as if gas linckage hit flywheel ? BZZZZZZZZZt. Compression is fine, just around 125 on both, all reed leaves in place and fine. Only other reason I can think of is if flywheel key is sheared, is detonation hearable ? Put motor back on boat ( still in water ) tonight, but I had reversed ignition coils, and then it became too dark. will swap upper and lower coil tomorrow, and test. Any theories about the sound ?
