1987 4.3 v6 Mercruiser - Looking to buy what to look for

After google-ing and posting here about some 170 4cylinder mercs that i should avoid, i've turned my attention to a different boat that has twin 4.3 mercruisers in it, vintage 1986. I hear there is a 4.3 and 4.3LX, i think these are the NON-LX motors... Are these solid motors? Are the drives alphas also and are they good? Parts still available if needed? Hour meters are at 1,100 or so. I will get a survey if the boat appears worth perusing but want to know what to look for going into it, ya know things i can check so i dont blow cash on a survey when i could of seen a major problem up front.

Ayuh,... The 4.3l is a rock solid motor, just like it's bigger siblings, the SBCs...

It should have Alpha 1 drives...
