1987 6 hp Evinrude won't start.

Was on the lake last week and all was fine. Ran all day and no problem. Went to start today and no luck. It acts like the carb isn't working. The plugs are dry and if I squirt fuel into the head it will run.If I squirt fuel into the carb. it won't run. I am getting fuel to the fuel pump but thats it.

If it were me, i'd take the carb. out and the float bowl off, and check the float needle. It sounds like it's stuck and not letting fuel in. Even if the fuel pump were bad, you should be able to use the primer bulb to fill the float bowl and it would run. You might even get by just cleaning the float needle and seat really good, but check to see that the neoprene tip isn't torn.
