I have a 1987 2450 bayliner with a 5.0 omc. Does anyone know how fast this boat should run? It has 550 hours and just bought a new crb for it. Could only get about 32 mph from it and was wondering if that is about right.

550 hours is quite a bit for a small block Chevy so make sure compression and oil pressure is good.

Make sure the replacement carb is a marine unit. you don't want to burn it to the waterline.

As for speed, 32 mph in a 24 footer is not bad, but you need to compare speed to the RPMs at speed. If you are 32 mph at 4500 rpm you need to check things out. My 28 footer runs 28 mph at 3000, which is a nice easy, comfortable pace in small chop. If the engine is ok, the pitch and diameter of the prop will effect speed more than anything.
