the ignition switch does not engage the starter, but if I jump the starter with a screw drive the solenoid engages the starter and the motor turns over, checked the main fuse for the motor. Already replaced with a new one a couple of months back and it was starting fine. Don't know what else to check?

welcome aboard.

being a 1987 bayliner, most likely this is an OMC

what diagnostics have you done?

this is a OMC 3.0 and no power at keyswitch's B terminal, we have checked all fuses for continuity, the battery is fully charged. gauges do not power on when the key switch is in the on position.

Look for an inline fuse going to the B terminal behind the helm

Start at the battery...... Pull apart and clean every connection from the battery to the key switch with 150 grit or a wire brush, then seal the connections with marine electrical varnish.
