I owned the very same boat in California, and loved it. Not the best on gas but a great boat.

Have fun.

Sauly,
I think you will like the straight inboards. The hyd. transmissions are alot smoother. The rudder effect is lost at idle speed say when docking, but thats what the twins are for.You can"walk" the boat with a little experience.I've not personally owned that boat but have used the same set up.Good luck, Delta Breeze

By the way the slow speed manuvering is outstanding with the twin inboards, the boat will just about turn 360's in its own length. Lern to use the engines for steering at idle speeds.

Re: 1987 Carver Mariner

I considered purchasing one myself, and did a lot of research. Here is a link to a good review of the boat. boatus.com/jackhornor/power/carver28.htm
In my view, these are OK boats. They are big for a 28 footer. However, there are some compromises. The layout is not good for fishing, has a lot of windage, and I would avoid punishing weather. If you get it, follow the advise in the review and do not overload the bridge.
I purchased a Chris Craft Commander 315 instead. The Mariner 28 has about the same cabin area as my 31 and probably a better layout. However, I can fit a marlin in my cockpit! You know, I have my priorities..

Gelbstoff

No direct linking, just refferals please.
