Hey Everyone-

I just bought my first boat! It's a nicely redone '87 Larson DC-150 powered by an '87 Classic 50. At least, that is what I think it is. The serial number has been painted over and I can't read it. Can anyone verify that this is an '87 Classic 50?

Anyway, I am about to disconnect the oil injection system and pre-mix my gas. When I turn the key, the alarm beeps non-stop whether the engine is running or not. I have heard many stories about failing oil injection, so I'm just going to bypass it.

My understanding is that I will need a new fuel line from the tank to the engine, and I will need to ground out the wire to the oil level sensor. I'm guessing the oil level sensor is in the oil tank on the floor.

I've seen some videos where guys remove the drive shaft from the oil pump and cap off all the hose connections. Do I need to do that as well?

Thanks!

Here's what ended up happening in case anyone ever looks this thread up. It was an inline Auto-Blend system (the kind that mounts to the side of the hull). I just disconnected the hose coming from the engine and it was long enough to connect directly to the gas tank (after putting the gas can fitting on it.) I unplugged the 3-wire connector from the auto-blend and that silenced the alarm. I feel much better about this set up, and I have more space in the boat without the extra auto-blend tank. Eventually, I will go back and disconnect the auto-blend wires from the engine, but it's good to go for now.

I always thought "Classic 50" referred the 44 cubic inch 4 cylinder engine. Getting rid of the autoblending system and premixing your fuel will guarantee it is getting oil. As long as you don't forget to add it. If you ever let anyone else refuel it, make sure they are aware that the 'Oil Injection' Decal is incorrect

I guess I should start another thread to try and figure out exactly which engine this is. That would help a lot!
