1987 evinrude 40 no fire

I just purchased a 1987 40hp evinrude. It started 1 time now it will not fire. I check spark sometime fire, sometime no fire. I have disabled kill switch, the problem is not there. When there is no spark, it is on both plugs. So it should not be both coils bad. Whats next to check? Any ideas anyone? Thanks alot guys, any help appreciated
