After shamelessly letting my boat sit for two years, I'm trying ot get her back and running. Replaced lower unit and O rings in long leaking T&T. She started up and ran pretty good once I burned the storage oil out of the cylinders but fuel was pouring out of a hole on the side of the lower carburetor.
Do I have a simple needle valve float sticking or is this something more serious?
Is this repairable with removing the bowl and spraying a little choke cleaner or will I have to take the carburetor off and get into replacing needle valves?
I haven't worked on carburetors since my 1965 Ford. Advice appreciated!

Re: 1987 Force 125 carb issue

You got it right, the needle isnt closing properly. I would remove the carbs and clean them out. They are pretty straight forward to work on. If your carbs are the same as mine, you cant replace the seats because they are pressed in unless you can come up with a way to tap a hole in them and use a slide hammer.
You probably dont need any new parts except bowl & flange gaskets. you can buy them at any marina or on this website. A good cleaning is all you need to do.

Re: 1987 Force 125 carb issue

I am having the same problem with my upper carb on a 3 cylinder 94 or 95 90 hp Force. It will not idle at full speed when started in cold start. It runs but at a low rpm. (at full throttle cold start) When it runs gas pours out the bottom overflow hole on the carb and slowly drips out the top over flow hole. I had it on all day and ran seafoam through it along with carb cleaner and some wrench tapping. It seemed to help a LITTLE bit but not much. I took the carb off now and pulled the needle valve out which had some wear and was indented and worn. So i need a new needle valve that I do know. What i dont know is what else i need to replace? I have never taken a carb apart and dont have a manual. I have the bottom dome off and can see a white plastic ring which i assume is the float. I dont see much else I can take off/apart. Where do I go from here? Everything looks in ok shape. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated
