Hi, I have a bass boat with a great running GT150 johnson, what I need to know
is does this motor have a clutch persay in the lower unit, it seems like it slips
sometime under throttle. checked prop for maybe spun hub no sign even changed
it and tryed another prop.i'm running a 22 pitch raker. It;s alot like once planed out
it goes into lockup and the rpm's drop some and off I go. It;s a 1987 so no elc.shift
I don,t think so any anwsers? It has a great holeshot, runs great on top end as well.
maybe a 4 blade will help this?

No clutch, just a clutch dog-either in gear or not. You are running a Raker prop. This prop has factory vent holes in it. This permits the prop to ventilate slightly upon take off. The extra ventilation lets the engine rev up slightly to get into the torque band-quicker. Once you get on plane, the speed of the oncoming water will prevent further exhaust bleed through those holes, and the prop will hook up-(quit ventilating.) You may see a 200 rpm drop each time this happens. Normal situation.
