Hi,,
Can someone please advise on this :
I went to my dealer to get a new rectifier for my motor but the
cost made me shake my head (57 Usd) So I turned around ad grabbed a new rectifier from a car alternator (10 Usd) and hooked it up
to the Johnson stator .. The stator windings delivers 15VAC at
idle and the new rectifier ouput measures 55 to 68 VDC, mind you this is without any load...
So my question is can i use it ? am I measuring wrong ?
The rectifier is a "huco 13 9283" rated for 90Amps, see image

the johnson alternator output is hooked up to terminals U and W, and mesuring is done between B+ and B- ..

Re: 1987 Johnson 70Hp Rectifier at 60V vo. load !

Thx Frank.
Yes it was NOT connected to the battery at the time..

Yes it's only two leads out on this motor, the original rectifier has only two AC leads in and one lead out for positive...

Thank you I'll hook it up and see what happens...
