my motor has always run great. however, on my last trip to the lake after running for about 30 minutes straight, my power trim wasn't functioning. i turned the motor off and found myself with a dead battery. i removed the cover and started it with a rope and returned safely to the dock. a day later the battery was just fine, turning the motor over with ease. i'm pretty positive i have a bad stator. any other ideas or suggestions?

If you had a bad stator (AC coils for charging), you would have had a dead battery the next day. Stators are very seldom intermittent with failures. There's something you're not telling us. Were the battery connections all tight and clean? What else happened? The battery didn't crap out and miraculously cure itself in a day!

Something charged the battery back up on the run in, that would have to be the stator. Did the T/T work when you put it on the trailer? Did you have a radio on all day, that could have run your battery down? I would look at all of the battery connections and make sure they are clean and real tight.

well my radio's been disconnected for a while so it wasn't that, after i pull started it the TT still wasn't working so i concluded i had no charging power of any kind coming from my motor. i cruised back to the boat ramp and left her running while i fetched the trailer. i loaded the boat, killed the motor and pulled it out of the water with my motor still down (no TT still)-it took an hour or so for the battery to regain enough power for me to run the TT to raise my motor. then, the next day at my house i went out back to the boat and turned the key and the motor cranked over like there was never any problem at all. maybe i just need to take it out again to see if the problem persists (cuz i haven't been out since) and then go from there. i just don't understand what it could've been other than the charging system-the battery terminals were clean and tight as could be...
