I have a 1987 Johnson 50 Hp.with the vro fuel pump. The oil side of the pump is disconnected and I have been mixing my own fuel for several years on this motor and have not had a problem.I just got my boat out from being put up for the winter and it starts up and runs fine (have not put in water yet).My problem is there is a clicking or knocking noise coming from the fuel pump itself. It was not making this noise when I put it up last fall.Is there something stuck or possibly broken inside the pump? I was told that these pumps weren't rebuildable although I see kits for them???? Can someone give me some help or ideas here? Thanks RF

They sometimes make noise when there is a fuel restriction.

DJ,Do you mean a fuel restriction feeding the pump or a restriction within the pump itself? I have cleaned the in-line filter and when you pump the bulb it apperars to be getting adequate fuel supply???

You may want to replace it with the "fuel pump only", replacement for about $150.00. If this is the original pump, I would...

web page

Down at the bottom of the page....
