Haven't found much literiture on this year 1987 johnson vro 60hp. MOD # J60TLCUC. I got a 2 barb pump assy. that the boat store said would fit. Now this pump has a fuel in and out. I was told to plug my pulse line, take out a vacuum plug bolt and install the pump with the gasket. I am unable to find any mounting surface let alone 3 holes that this pump will fit. 2 bolt holes and 1 pulse hole. I'm wondering if anyone knows if this is the right pump (part # 438556) or do I need a 3 barb pump (fuel in and out and pulse line barb) and the part # if anyone knows? While I'm at it lol...Anyone know how to adjust the carbs on this bad boy?

I just replaced the vro pump on my '87 Evinrude 70hp vro. Pump was working, but P.O.J. plastic housing was cracked and leaking. I was able to source the pump from a '71 50hp Johnson that was hanging around the shop. It was a standard, three barb pulse/diaphram pump. All the hoses go back the way they were, ie. vac, in, out. There are 2 plugs that you need to disconnect, plug oil line, purge fuel lines, mix 50:1, re-prime lines, and never look back!
(The pump I used had 3 screws that passed through the pump housing for mounting purposes. I simply put a washer and nut on 2, and used the third to mount pump to the old vro pump mount, which I just bent 90 degrees aft, and used an existing threaded hole.)
I've seen these pumps on ebay for around $30.00
