Can anyone tell me how to find a replacement trim sender for my outboard. I've checked with to Mercury dealers and have checked the parts list for my engine. It's as is it doesn't exist but it has one and always has. I need to replace it but can't find one anywhere.

I've done some more checking on my own and still come up with nothing. This sender unit must have magically appeared. I checked out the 821180A6, but it doesn't match up..thanks usskydver.

Re: 1987 Mariner 115HP

Okay guys, thanks for the help on the trim sender. I'm not really going to worry about it right now.

Next order of buisness is to solve the running issue. I think you should know the history so here goes.

First of all I've checked compression and all six cylinders are between 130 and 135, so there is no problems there. I've also run ohm values on the stater, triggers and coils and all meet the specified values so I don't see any problems there. I of course replaced all six spark plugs as well.

The carburetors leaked when I purchased the boat so I rebuildt all three, even replaced all three floats since all where full of gasoline. No more leaks.
I also replaced the fuel pump simply because of it's age and all related fuel lines primer bulb etc all the the way back to the auto blender.

With all that said the orginal problem still exists, which is rough idle and poor accleration. It doesn't start easily and dies often on idle. When you try to accelerate it coughs, misses but most of time does reach WOT and runs fine once there. (The tachometer jumps between 4000 and 5500 rpm, but the engine is running smooth, if that information helps any).

I'm not sure what else to try or look into.
This is a 115HP, 1987 Mariner, In-Line 6 cylinder
