Hello all I just joined and I have a few questions about my boat. The title says it's an 1987 Loma Marlin and it's a 21 1/2 foot long cuddy boat. It has a 350 in it right now. It's not the original engine. My dad bought her used in 94 and I know that it has been swapped twice. I would like to restore her to her former glory, but I don't really have the experience with rebuilding boats. If anyone can chine in and maybe tell me what the actual model is would be great as well as some pictures of it. I know the engine needs work, as well the interior due to some damn raccoons getting in her... the poor thing has been sitting since 2001 and I would love to get her back out on the water. I went to the Utah boat show this weekend and NO one except a guy from Petersen Marine would talk to me. Um I would like to put a BBC in it cause that was the plan beforey dad passed away in 2014, so any info on doing that swap would be great as well. Thanks again guys.

:welcome: to iboats! Was she kept inside a barn for the last 15 years? First thing I would do is get some soap and water and clean her up inside and out. Then post some pics of every part of her. Pics help us see what you are looking at. You will get a lot of help here in restoring her.

Unfortunately no she wasn't stored in a barn the dust was from being under an awning. Definitely going get some pictures once the weather starts getting warmer her in Utah. Hopefully this weekend it'll be warm enough to start cleaning her up. Kinda hard to do when I get off one job at 6pm and 4:30pm from another. But the boat show here recently kinda ticked me off to the point I want to get her going again lol. Any idea on what model it would be so that I maybe can find some info about it, and or other photos of one that is in good shape?

Little motivation for sales/marketing prople to talk about an old boat at a new boat show, but it still takes away from enjoying the show.

As there is a lot of work ahead,.lets move this over to the rebuild/resto forum.

Post some pix when you get it washed down, in and out. Raccoon famage and all. We've seen worse....

What outdrive is mated to the 350 now? Not sn I/O owner but the jump to a BBC may require an outdrive swap.

After wash down, look for tags, logos or plates mounted at or near the transom, helm, side walls headed into the cuddy, around the cabin or on the exterior sides of the cuddy.

Most boat builders are all to happy to put the make and model in a few places on a boat. It might even just be a numbered model, like 213....

For the rebuild, it wont take someone extremely familiar w the Marlin brand to help out.

Good luck

First off, I would like to apologize about my post in the other thread.... didn't even look at the date on my phone. And about it being in the wrong section. So thanks for moving it.

As for the outdrive it's an Mercruiser Alpha 1. I was told that it might be best to go to a Brovo 2. Hopefully tonight I can get more pictures.

No apology needed, it happens...

You didnt post it in the 'wrong' forum, I just think you'll get more help here in the resto forum then buried over in the Marlin forum.

I see you started a motor topic, great...
