1987 merc 5.7 260 question

Just changed the oil, and then noticed a old water fuel seperator, how often should these be changed? did not change the gasket and installed it the book said 99% it will leak.... well thanks

If it is the spin on filter that looks like an oil filter the gasket is attached to the part you replace.The new filter has a new gasket on it.
I change mine at least once a year.

Ayuh,... Anually, unless you're having a water in the fuel issue, then keep changing it til there's no more water...
