I am trying to find the best place to buy a new set of stern drive boots for a 1987 mercruiser. I might be calling them by the wrong name, but that's what the mechanic called them. They are the black rubber tubes that keep the water from entering the inboard part of the engine, I believe. I think they're set of three or four of them, that need to be replaced. If you know of a specific name that they are called and/or a place where I can find them, please let me know, THANKS!

They're called bellows - you have a drive bellows, a shift bellows, and an exhaust bellows. Just about anyplace that sells marine parts will sell you these - either individually or in a kit.

Most here would suggest buying the OEM instead of the aftermarket stuff.

If you are replacing them because they are leaking, then be sure to check the condition of your gimbal bearing while you have things off.

One of the best places I have found was right here on Iboats. Price wise they are a little cheeper then I have found locally and have them in stock. Not only that but you can buy the bellows seperaltly or as in a TRANSOM SEAL KIT that contains every seal for your specfic model.
