Engine# 0B157444. Just picked up a Bass Tracker with this motor on it. Original owner stated low hours. By condition of boat and under motor cover, it’s believable. Motor looks brand new, lol. I am not a boat motor or 2 stroke guy, however, I have rebuilt car engines before.

Previous owner stated that he had issues with oil injection, so, a friend bypassed it and told him to run premix. He forgot, ran straight gas, said motor stopped and seized. I got boat home, pulled plugs: looked great, light oil, no rust, no melted bits. With a ratchet, could turn over motor with two fingers, could hear air puffing out of cylinders? What should I do next? Is there a low oil shutoff? Breaker? Should I premix and attempt to start? I have a bore scope and will peak inside cylinders, service manual on order. Thanks for all help!

Well, no response, so I said screw it, lol. I talked with a friend of mine who repairs dirt bikes ( 2 strokes) and he said try and start it WITH pre-mix. Figured, what can it hurt additionally?

hooked everything up, hit switch, instantly started and idled!! Can’t believe it: good exhaust, pumping water, no knocking.... crazy. Don’t know how late no it will run, but, it’s not seized, lol. Now, fixing the atrocious wiring on this Bass Tracker..... Geesh... really, glass tube fuses!!!
