I got this boat and am trying to get it all back together and it has been sitting for 1 year. I took and checked everything and cleaned the P hole out and took it to the lake. I ran it for a hour or so gently and then I put it up on pad. The RPM's were about 5500 then all of a sudden it was like someone took the throttle and put it at half throttle. I found a couple leaks on the gas line and repaired them and took it back out and it still was like at half throttle but it still ran good and idled great. I took the boat to a marina and they cleaned the carbs, and adjusted them and pulled the plugs and found a piece of metal the size of a pencil lead stuck in one of the plugs, so they done a compression check and the top cylinder was 135lbs, the center cylinder was 142lbs, and the bottom cylinder was 140lbs. In 2005 the top cylinder was 140lbs, the center and bottom cylinders were 150lbs. Anyways they stuck the new plugs in it and done some adjusting and took the oil injector out of it, and told me I needed to mix the oil at 50:1 and add just a bit extra and it should be ok but the guy said the peice of metal looked like a peice of piston. I have had the boat on the water a few times since then and it seems to run well but I am worried about it. Can anyone give me any hope for this engine or idea what that metal might have been. Any advice is appreciative.
