Ok im very new to boats and i just bought an 1987 Bayliner with and inboard OMC Cobra motor. It has the tendency to overheat when it in the lake or even when its in a trash can full of water. If we put the muffs on it and force the water through it, it runs great and doesnt overheat at all. We ran it in the pale until it started to heat up, then we shut it down and tore into it. the impeller had melted to the liner which had inturn metled to the case. The ducting for the water was bone dry on both side after running it for about 5 minutes submerged. We replaced the impeller, case, and liner and it did no good. We took the water pump off and took it to the shop and they said it was in great working order. Once in the pale of water, it almost feels like the vents that are supposed to be sucking up water are blowing instead. (dont kno if possible). There is a little vent tube that attaches to the bottom of the impeller case and when removed while running it was blowing very strong exhaust fumes?? Can someone please help??
Thanks
Cody
