1987 Pull Starter assenbly - Rewind Question

I have a 1987 Evinrude 15 HP pull start motor, the pull cord broke and now I'm trying to install a new cord. I pulled the assembly apart and put the new cord in and it works great, but it hangs out about 8". I know there must be some nice little trick to have the cord/handle return all the way back to the cowling. (just under the cowling)<br /><br />Jerry

Hi Jerry,<br /> Pretty simple, really. Undo the grip from the rope and feed it back into the cowling. Straighten it out as best you can and feed it around the spool once, maybe twice (to get the tension needed) and thread it back through the cowling & retie the grip.<br />- Scott
