1987 SS175 Ski & Fish

We have two "U" bolts on the back of the boat for hooking up the water ski rig. They seem to be loose. When i try ti tighten them from the outside, they just keep in pulling out. It would seem that the "board" that is behind the transom is rotten. How would one go about replacing it. I am very handy but would like a little insight into what I am tackling.

Just saw your post and it is sad that no one ever answered your question. Don't know if you are still on the forum, but if you are it is relatively easy to replace the transom. Best advice I can give you is to go to the Starcraft forum and look at the rebuilds. Lots of advice and pics on how it is done. Starcraft SS and Sea Nymph ss are basically sister boats and the transom replacement is the sme.
