What I have done: New distibutor cap, rotor, distributor sensor, spark plugs, fuel/water separator filter, fuel pump, and checked carburator filter.

Problem: Motor starts good and idles good. Run up to 2500-3000 rpm and motor may run good for a minute and then starts shipping and stalling out. Pull it back to idle and it runs fine. It acts like it is running out of gas. This is why I replaced the fuel pump and filter. Still the same problem.

Anyone have a clue as to what my problem is?

Thank you in advance....

The most possible is your tank .Try another tank and lead the hose directly to the pump.

This has all the symptoms of a classic fuel contamination problem. Change your fuel filter- again, but this time dump the contents into a clear container. My guess is you'll find some sediment or water on the bottom.
Also, check the small secondary filter in the fuel line at the carb inlet- again.

Check all the filters again, fuel pickup tube also anti-siphon valve. Your vent is clear.

I am assuming your carb is clean, And it's tuned right.

Compression is good, also and that there is no water in the oil.

Your not overheating.

Than my guess would be that the valves are to tight and need a adjustment.

Very easy to do, costs nothing, and is overlooked 90 percent of the time.

Thanks

follow the fuel feed line from the filter to the tank - there will be an aluminum "barb" that the hose is clamped to. That should be the A/S valve, if you look inside there should be a small spring and ball.

Also, someone above mentioned you tank vent, have you verified that it is clear? Open/remove the fuel cap, if the problem goes away, then it is just a simplw venting problem.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I thought about running it with the fuel filler cap open to check for vent obstruction. I will try this when I return from work today.
When I removed the old fuel/water seperator filter last time, I dumped it into a mason jar and there was no sediment or water. Also the filter at the carb. was clean with no sediment or obstruction.
I will pull the fuel pick-up line from the tank if it still runs bad with the fuel cap off. After checking the anti-siphon valve also.

Thanks again....you guys are great!!!

Thats the problem, some people do not post what fixed or even if they ever fixed the problem.

No closure to the thread.

A well meaning poster, posts to a old thread trying to help the person.
